Why would I journal?

Updated: Mar 3

Journaling can keep you emotionally and mentally balanced and here are some reasons why.

Keeping a journal is an awesome way to alleviate stress and keep goals in focus.

It is a great way to relieve stress, by focusing on the issue & organizing your thoughts and feelings. By the time you are finished entering into your daily journal, you will most likely find that your mind is calmer and you can cope better.

Another great reason is the emotional release that journaling can have. Writing down your thoughts and feelings can have a cleansing effect because it will help you to express yourself and not hold in all those feelings.

How about getting to know yourself through daily journaling? It will give you an insight to your emotions, decisions and actions which will lead to greater self awareness and how you can change your thoughts and actions to produce a different outcome next time a similar situation arises.

Journaling can keep you on track for your goals. It is a powerful tool for setting goals, what you are doing to achieve them and how you are tracking them. It will help you grow mentally, as well as, keeping you accountable.

You can journal what your issue is, which is a challenge in itself. However, once it has been identified, then you can explore possible solutions, as well as accepting the difficult situation for what it is. Seeing your problem written down will make it easier to accept and manage.

Studies suggest that journaling can improve your mental health by reducing symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression.

In conclusion, you can see the many benefits of journaling. These journals are very personal and unique, just like you. There are many different types of journals such as dream, gratitude, daily, reflective and career to name a few.

Start a journal, even if it is just a few highlights of the day. Then make it a daily exercise. Add it to your morning routine and give yourself 5 mins to start. Once you have made friends with your journal, the time and length of the entries will increase dramatically.
